The VC-1 is the networked audio/video zone player, that can stream audio and video from Vision™ servers, allowing playback of music, movies, and photos from any room of the home. The VC-1 also has a front panel DVD/CD drive that can be used for single disc play or even direct import to a VS or VX server.
Escient VC1-Extended Information:
Complete your home theater Vision When you think "home theater", you don't just imagine one room in your home. You imagine the entire house as your theater, each room networked together for an integrated, seamless A/V experience. As proof, you've already purchased an HDTV and multi-channel AV receiver for the heart of your home entertainment system: your living room. Further, you've incorporated an Escient Vision VS or VX media server, collecting all of your movies, music, and photos on one component. Now you've placed another HDTV in the bedroom and want to be able to access all the entertainment stored on the Escient Vision media server in the living room without the need to install and load a second server. Enter the Vision VC1 networked zone player. Not only can you stream all of the music, movies, and photos stored on your Vision media server to the VC1, but the VC1 also sports a built-in DVD/CD player, great for popping in a movie or album not currently in your server's library.
Support system, Part I: Formats The ability to support today's wide array of digital video, music, and photo formats is an essential quality for any modern home theater component. The more formats that are supported, the more versatile the component is and the more seamlessly it is able to integrate into your A/V system. Blending in nicely with your networked system, the VC1 supports a diverse array of digital formats, including: MP3, FLAC, WAV, AAC, WMA. Dolby Digital, dts, MPEG-2 (DVD), and MPEG-4.
Support system, Part II: Connectivity While a diverse support system at the digital level is crucial for a component's ability to mesh with your existing system, equally important for the same end is a versatile offering of physical connectivity options. The Escient Vision VC1 sports a diverse collection of audio and video interfaces, delivering optimal connectivity. On the video side of things, the VC1 offers HDMI input and output (see below for more info on this advanced, single-cable interface), component-video output, S-video output, and composite-video output. The VC1's audio connections include digital optical and coaxial output and analog audio output. Offering additional connectivity for accessing digital video, music, and photos, the VC1 sports two USB ports. Finally, a Gigabit Ethernet connection links the VC1 to your Vision VS or VX media server.
Take control, in style Managing all of your movies and music on your HDTV is easy, thanks to the Vision VC1's high-definition user interface. The CD/DVD guide lets you import movies and access DVD menus, resume the film where you left off if you visit the DVD guide while watching a movie, or simply start from the beginning. The Movie guide aids you in playing movies from the hard drive, streaming movies from a Vision server, playing movies from an external changer, as well as in browsing movies by cover, title, genre, rating, cast or director. Search for your favorite songs by genre, artist, album, or song, and create your own playlists with the Music guide. The Music guide also provides the same help in accessing music on the hard drive, streaming music and playing from an external changer. The Photo Guide lets you view your photos in HD and create and play slideshows with customized transition effects and optional audio soundtracks. With the Rhapsody guide you can search, browse, and play over 5 million songs from 500 genres, 120 radio stations, and 100,000 artist channels. Enjoy your free 30 day trial. Finally, the Setup menu lets you set importing and streaming preferences, set up network connections, and set parental controls..
HDMI: advanced connectivity Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Escient's Vision VC1 networked zone player features HDMI connectivity. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)
Avoid the "no wire" ire The advent of HDMI has been monumental in the advancement of all your favorite audio and video gadgets. Don't miss out on all that your new Escient Vision VC1 offers — in terms of high-definition audio and video connectivity — by leaving a set of HDMI cables off the list.
