What is Component video ?
Component video is a video signal that has been split into two
or more components. In popular use, it refers to a type of analog video information
that is transmitted or stored as three separate signals. Component Video is a format
of video signal that takes the advancement from composite (1-signal) to S-Video
(2-signals) one step further. Component video can carry more information than composite
or S-video but is still an analog connection. Like composite and S video, component
video cables do not carry audio and are often paired with audio cables. Component
video is a set of three RCA cables (red, green, and blue) that are capable of carrying
a high-definition video signal. Component video is a color-difference video format
which carries the splitting-out of information one step further. Component video
is capable of producing signals such as 480p , 720p , 1080i and 1080p , but digital
connections such as DVI (video only) and HDMI (which can also include up to 8 channels
of audio) give better results at the higher resolutions (up to 1080p). Component

The signal quality difference between composite
video and S-video can be from very dramatic to not very big depending on the signal
and equipment quality. S-Video is another type of component video signal, because
the luminance and chrominance signals are transmitted on separate wires.
Component Video Uses
Component video is a type of video signal (analog), that is stored or transmitted
after splitting into two or more signals or components. Component Video splits the
video signal up into three separate components (Y/Pb/Pr) for preserving high resolution
and accurate color rendition. Component video is a video signal that has been split
into two or more component channels. In a composite signal, the luminance, Brightness
(Y) signal and the chrominance, Color (C) signals are encoded together into one
signal. Component Video Interconnects offer high-quality vivid detail and color
for today’s HDTV video and home theater applications. Component video is a type
of analog video information that is transmitted or stored as two or more separate
signals
