What is D-ILA?
(D-ILA) Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier, D-ILA is a high performance
liquid crystal display device developed by JVC to meet various requirements for
projectors. The device supports high resolution, high brightness and large display
size, all of which are necessary for high quality pictures ranging from presentation
by PC to digital HDTV home theater. D-ILA, which stands for Direct Drive Image Light
Amplifier, is a proprietary form of Liquid Crystal on Silicon. Direct Drive Image
Light Amplifier. The projector's chassis achieves a remarkable 65% reduction in
size compared with conventional projectors in its class. (D-ILA) technology produces
film like quality images, and Smooth, film-like images.

LCoS Technology
LCoS is a hybrid of LCD and reflective technologies. LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon)
systems incorporate progressive video scanning technology with a new LCOS display
device. LCoS is the newest rear projection TV technology. Liquid crystal on silicon,
or LCOS (also known as D-ILA, for direct-drive image light amplifier), is a liquid-crystal
display technology. LCOS combines LCD and DLP technology that uses liquid crystals
instead of individual mirrors. LCoS technology has the potential to enable the manufacture
of big-screen high-definition televisions with very high picture quality at relatively
low cost. LCoS technology has the potential to enable the manufacture of big-screen
(50" and larger) high-definition televisions with very high picture quality at relatively
low cost. LCoS display chips contain active electronics directly on the chip behind
each pixel to control that pixel. LCoS is bulb-driven, meaning that a user-replaceable
light bulb should be able to restore like-new performance and brightness. Since
LCoS is a reflection technology, higher contrast-ratio images are produced. Another
benefit of LCoS technology is that all the controlling microelectronics for each
pixel is located beneath the liquid crystals.
